As cool as the evolving Web 2.0 sites are, there are times when the modern Social Studies teacher just needs a nice, clean paper outline map for a lesson. Although most textbook publishers provide outline maps as part of their instructor resources, the web has a wealth of these sites too.

Know that using graphic organizers is an effective teaching strategy but not ready for the online, interactive version? Well, Worksheet Library might just be your answer. This site has downloadable worksheets in .pdf format with a variety of organizers that you can print. You can find G.O. for cause/effect, cycles, time, charting...and much, much more. This site is definitely worth checking out.

This looks like a fun site with a lot of interactive games. Check out the section on State reports.

If you have not heard of GapMinder, you need to check it out!! And then, you need to share this site with your co-workers. This site has some great visuals that can be used in math, social studies, science, health, business...almost any classroom.

Learn about trends in the world (climate, population, technology, health and more). To get started, go to this site and click on the GapMinder World Link. You will be impressed with all off the information you can uncover.

This site is a great resource for planning lessons on critical evaluation of web sites. It also has links to bogus web sites for students to "evaluate". Click on evaluating web sites to view it.

Here is a great site that shows students the foundations of robotics. It is a high interest site. :)
