Another example of an Internet Project, Thinkquest is a free and safe web site that contains competitions for students and projects for classrooms. It also has a valuable library of resources for students and teachers alike.

The Montana Historical Society has added a section to their website dedicated to African-Americans. In this section you will find resources to use in your classroom to round out your Montana history studies.

Discovery Channel's Game Central has great interactive games for all ages.

Check out the Life or Death games. The students can choose to survive the jungle, ocean or winter. You must choose the correct items in order to survive your situation. It is totally not what you expect, and they give you some great life saving tips.

This website on Montana Climate Change (http://www.montanaclimatechange.org/index.php) is a collaboration of many organizations, what's happening in politics, etc. on the concept of climate change in Montana.

As cool as the evolving Web 2.0 sites are, there are times when the modern Social Studies teacher just needs a nice, clean paper outline map for a lesson. Although most textbook publishers provide outline maps as part of their instructor resources, the web has a wealth of these sites too.

Tammy's Tidbits is a website that a teacher put together to collect internet resources for every subject area.

If you have not heard of GapMinder, you need to check it out!! And then, you need to share this site with your co-workers. This site has some great visuals that can be used in math, social studies, science, health, business...almost any classroom.

Learn about trends in the world (climate, population, technology, health and more). To get started, go to this site and click on the GapMinder World Link. You will be impressed with all off the information you can uncover.

This site has activities for a number of subject areas.  It is geared to the elementary level.  Many of the activities are interactive.    Click here to visit the site.

"360 degree interactive panoramas from internationally known panorama photographers"

This site is great for Geography or History classes, and helps put the students right in the middle of The New 7 Wonders.

ABC News has a collection of videos on current events covering a variety of topics: World news, science and technology, finance, and politics...just to name a few.

The videos are short clips that you can use for just in time learning moments!

This site was shared with me by a high school Social Studies teacher, but I think it could be used in lower grades. There is some information on Native Americans as well.
There is a link for teacher resources, interactive projects and multimedia resources.

Smithsonian Institution
offers students photos to help them understand history and science and more.

Take a White House panoramic tour or study the Presidents.  This highly interesting site is sure to keep your students interested.  (Includes a section specific for kids)

The Library of Congress offers a "jump back in time."  Discover life in America during any era. Study state history, famous Americans, and American sports and music. Take a Scavenger Hunt or send a postcard home.
